Every year on the 8th of November, which is Saint Archangels day there are celebrations in the small village of Tankovo, which is situated on about 8 kilometres from Sunny Beach and has more or less 1250 habitants. This year the weather was sunny but slightly chilly, only 15 degrees. In the centre of the village there were a lot of stands offering literally everything. We were particularly attempted by the stalls offering local gastronomy delicacies meanwhile the children were exited by the two carousels. Penny managed to convince me to try the carousal myself – I haven’t tried this for 40 years! I’ve been very close friend with Penny and her family for many years now. Actually they invited me along with Peter to attend their village celebration. For our surprise we weren’t the only foreigners in there – we met few British who live in the area of Tankovo.
Without any doubt the highlight of the cultural program was the concert held in front of the City Hall. It started at 12.00pm with some traditional Bulgarian folklore songs presented firstly by group of children followed later by a group of pensioners from Tankovo. In the end during the performance of one band from Bourgas the audience started to dance the traditional horo dance. It was an amazing experience!
